Trip Overview

Annapurna Base Camp Trek via Ghorepani Poon Hill is a fantastic trekking trip that takes you to the base of Mt. Annapurna (8091 m), ranked 10th highest peak in the world, and the journey to its base camp is one of the most fascinating treks on earth. Fewer treks combine many different scenery and bring you close to the base of 7,000 and 8,000-meter-high peaks in such a short period as the Annapurna Base Camp Trek.

Like any other trek in the region, the Annapurna Base Camp trek with Poon Hill begins from Pokhara, generally known as the "City of Lakes" and the city of natural beauty. The trail to Annapurna Base Camp goes through pouring waterfalls, charming villages, terraced rice fields, lush rhododendron forests, and wonderful mountain panoramas from Poon Hill before reaching the base of the mighty Annapurna Himalaya. Our 10-day carefully designed Annapurna Base Camp with Poon Hill Trek itinerary is intended for those trekkers who would like to trek to the base camp of Annapurna with relaxing time and enough time to get acclimated to avoid getting acute mountain sickness. The Annapurna Base Camp Trek via Ghorepani Poon Hill takes 6 to 8 days to get to your dream destination, depending on your itinerary and length of walking days. The itinerary offered here is a 10-day package, starting from Nayapul and a half-hour drive from Pokhara, and going up to Ghorepani to the north and the well-known viewpoint of Poon Hill. From Ghorepani, you go eastwards to Chumrung and then north again, entering the Modi Kola Valley up to the Base Camp via Machhapuchhre Base Camp at 3700 meters from sea level.

Many other trekkers just trek the circuit Nayaul-Ghorepani-Ghandruk-Nayapul or either continue through Landruk-Tolka-Australian Camp or Dhampus, then end the trek at Phedi. This trek is called the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, which is very rewarding in itself. This trek can easily be done with children as well. From Annapurna Base Camp, you can return via Jhinu Danda and give your tired body a well-deserved rest in the delightful hot springs for the natural hot spa. Upon your return, visiting one of the Gurung villages of Ghandruk or Landruk is worthwhile, depending on your tour plan.

In Hinduism, Annapurna is "... the universal and timeless kitchen-goddess ... the mother who feeds. Without her there is starvation and a universal fear. Her most popular shrine is located in Kashi, on the banks of the river Ganga." Her association with the giving of food (wealth) led her in time to be transformed into Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth so from the religious view it is important to respect the Mother Nature, create peaceful and calm surroundings.
