Itinerary
Expand allEscort from your hotel in Pokhara around 8:30 AM, then drive to famous Sarangkot, and we have a tea break at Bhanjyang Village Lodge and Restaurant for an astonishing mountain view. After enjoying the view and capturing some photos, we drive further to Kande at an elevation of 1700 meters above sea level and then hike to an Australian camp. It will take some 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your walking pace and fitness. Take a nice lunch with a view and stroll around after meals. Overnight in Australian camp, aka Thulo Kharka
Wake up with birds chirping sounds and an amazing view with a nicely cooked leisure breakfast, and then check out, then walk down to Dhampus village through farmlands and local villages. Finally, we get to Phedi and drive back to Pokhara. Transfer to your hotel, and the trip ends with a wilderness excursion.

Thulo Kharka, now known as Australian Camp, is a popular hiking destination famous for its stunning mountain views and natural environment. It offers an easy trek suitable for all age groups, featuring lush forest trails, glimpses into local Gurung village life, and a chance to experience the beauty of the Himalayas without a strenuous commitment.
Originally called Thulo Kharka (meaning “big seasonal pasture”), this location was used for seasonal grazing. In the late 1980s, Austrian travelers began visiting to admire the breathtaking mountain views. Locals initially named it “Austrian Camp,” but it later became “Australian Camp” for easier pronunciation
It is cool and pleasant in the months of April to November. Daytime is warm when the sun is out, but it is cold at night and in the early morning if you are trekking in winter (Dec to Feb), you will need warm clothes.
You can hike to the Australian camp throughout the year. However, it is recommended to trek from September to May to enjoy its panoramic view and stunning sunset and sunrise views. Trekking in summer also provides the best monsoon trek experience with a lush green and peaceful environment.
