Rupina La Pass offers remote, camping-based trekking between Manaslu and Boudha Himal. It's a wilderness experience, combinable with Manaslu Circuit or Tsum Valley.

Trip Overview

Rupina La Pass Trek is one of the “off-the-beaten trekking trails” located between Boudha Himal and the Manaslu Circuit traditional route that follows the Budhi Gandaki River valley from Arughat. This short untrodden and isolated route offers a total wilderness experience in a peaceful area where very few trekkers traveled and left the route virgin yet.

As the route is newly offered for Wilderness trekking adventure seekers that trip requires camping and there is no teahouse built yet. Camping in serenity and open seasonal pasture gives us peace of mind soaking ourselves with nature and feeling true happiness without connection to the modern world and technology that makes life hectic and monotonous.

For the further afield, this trek can be combined with Manaslu Circuit, Tsum Valley, or both of these depending on the time you have or the length of trekking you prefer. The standard itinerary we offer here inline is a combined Manaslu Circuit that goes through dramatic Larke Pass (5160 masl).

Rupina La Pass Trek with Manaslu Circuit FAQs

The traditional Manaslu Circuit trek takes 14 days or up to 17 days, depending on the side visits you include. This trek can be condensed in 10 to 11 days (see our 11-day Manaslu trek) for fitter trekkers. The actual distance you'll be covering each day will be approximately 15-20 km. During the trek, you don't have to walk continuously for a long time.

In term of difficulty; this trek is medium hard. The trail goes through dramatic Larke Pass that is 5160 meter from the sea level. Having previous trekking experience or hiking habit for this trek is advantage. Pre- physical training will help of the trekker has a lot to do with the Manaslu Circuit Trek as it is one of the challenging treks in Nepal that takes you through the remote villages of the Himalayan region.

Can I Trek to Manaslu Circuit Solo? Actually the answer is no but we can arrange your trip for yourself. However; Nepal's restricted trekking areas require minimum two parties to get permits so only group trekking is possible as per state law. So you should have friend to trek with or join the other groups to get permission to enter the area. Write us with your expected travel date for more information about fixed group departures to join the group.

The answer is no; you cannot trek as an individual trekker according to Nepali government rule. You should be accompanied by a registered trekking guide, and your trek must be organized by a government-registered company while trekking in such restricted areas. We have guide cum porters to legalize the trek if you are a low-budget trekker.

Circuit Trek is very safe; however, one should bear in mind that trekking in the Himalaya itself is an adventure, and there are always chances of casualties such as rock falls, landslides, avalanches, and bad weather conditions that may cause snowstorms and trail blocks to go missing. Another thing to consider is AMS (Altitude Mountain Sickness). So we suggest the trekkers follow the essential safety protocol and hire an experienced and professional guide.

The cost of the Manaslu Circuit Trek varies according to your tour style and the length of your trek. In general, for your rough idea, the Manaslu Trek will cost USD 80 to USD 120 per day, which covers all your essential logistical needs for the trek.

The ideal months to trek to Manaslu Circuit are September, October, November, March, April and May. However, you can trek to Manaslu around the year. We suggest you check with your agency if you are trekking in winter (December to February) and monsoon (June to August)

Larke Pass, at an elevation of 5160 meters (16925 feet) above sea level, is the highest altitude in the Manaslu Circuit Trek. Larke Pass offers a dramatic view while crossing over in good weather.

Please note that there are no banks and no ATM machines along the route. We advise you to carry some extra Nepali Rupees for your additional expenses during the trek. So withdraw the cash or change the foreign currency in Kathmandu before your trip to Manaslu.

Mobile network coverage along the Manaslu trail is provided by NTC (Nepal Telecom) and NCEL. NTC has better coverage, and the network gets poor at higher altitudes. Trekkers may experience 3G or 4G data speeds in some areas, but 2G or lower speeds are more common.

These days, there is WiFi service available in most of the teahouses on the entire Manaslu Circuit route. It is paying for using it. Also, you can subscribe to DATA and buy a local SIM card before heading on the trek.

These days, Manaslu Circuit Trek is very popular because it is the best alternative trek to Annapurna Circuit for those looking for complete interesting facts about culture and geographical diversities, along with white peaks, charming villages, locals, monasteries, religious and cultural heritages. And yet Manaslu is untrodden by road building and modern impact as the area lies in a controlled area.
