Langtang Helambu Trek first goes to the delightful Langtang valley and the journey through holy Gosainkunda Lake to charming Helambu is; a life changing trip that takes you to the insight of Langtang treasure and soak yourself in the nature; that is one of most pleasing trekking holiday in Nepal. Experience the intact, unique cultures of Tamang, Newars and Sherpas, living in some of the most beautiful hamlets in Nepal. Langtang Helambu trek is an ultimate destination easily accessed from Kathamndu whereas other major treks needs long and expensive transport of air travel, Langtang and Helambu offer breath-stopping mountain view from Tsergo Ri, Kyanjin Ri, Lauribina and cultural experiences every bit as magnificent as anywhere else in Nepal.
Two distinct basins and an intervening lek (ridge) lend their names to the major treks here; each stands on its own, but given enough time and good weather you can mix-and-match them. Helambu is closest to Kathmandu, comprising the rugged north–south valleys and ridges that lie just beyond the northeast rim of the Kathmandu Valley. North of Helambu, running east–west and tantalizingly close to the Tibet border, lies the high, alpine Langtang Valley, which in its upper reaches burrows spectacularly between the Langtang and Jugal Himals. Gosainkunda comprises a chain of blessed holy lakes located in a rugged intermediate range northwest of Helambu. One practical inconvenience is that the connections between these three treks aren’t reliable – winter snow may block the passes between Helambu and the other two – and done on their own, the Langtang and Gosainkunda trek require you to retrace your steps for much of the return journey. All these routes take you into Langtang National Park, for which there’s a Rs 3000 entry fee and TIMS Card (Trekkers Information Management System) is required as the trekking permits.
This trek is remarkably categorized and relatively well-liked trek. It is well suited for 13 to 15 days itineraries. What it lacks in superlatives – there are no 8000m peaks in the vicinity (unless you count Shisha Pangma, across the border in Tibet) – it makes up for in base-to-peak rises that are as dramatic as anywhere. Langtang, in particular, delivers more amazing views in a short time than any other walk-in trek in Nepal, with the possible exception of the Annapurna Base Camp, Annapurna Sanctuary & Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek.
Shortening this trip: To make this trip short we can remove or skip 3 spare days that we have in Kyanjin Gompa (day 7), extra excursion day at Tarke Gyang (day 15) and spare day in Kathmandu (day 18). So then this trip will be just 16 days total in Nepal. Many people include Tamang Heritage trail to make this trek longer. We can add Ganja La Pass to make this trip more adventurous.
