Trip Overview

Singla Pass Trek in the Ganesh region also now newly named “Ruby Valley” lies between Dhading and Nuwakot district. If you are following the great Himalaya trail it is situated between Langtang and Mansiri Himal parte to Manaslu.  

Singla Pass Trek is intended to satisfy the off-the-beaten keens and wilderness lovers. The route offers diverse ethnic groups and locals, a social lifestyle. The majority are Tamang people with their unique culture.  While you are trekking to the area it is not just people and their traditions but also the views of giant snowy peaks that amaze you from the Singla Pass. The mountain view stretches from Langtang to Annapurna, If you extend your trek; you can add Ganesh Himal Base Camp and discover the holy Lakes of Kalo Kunda and Seto Kunda; meaning Black and White lakes and end your trek at Arughat when usually Manaslu trek is started and that might need some 7 to 8 extra days then your trek is 14 days. As said above; the route is less visited by trekkers and not crowded like the traditional route of Annapurna and Everest region; one can enjoy the peace and tranquility of discovering yourself in an isolated and hidden valley. 

When to trek?

Like other trekking routes; the Best time to trek to Singla Pass is March and April, the hills and mountains greatly blushed with blossoming Rhododendron. Also, autumn (Sept, Oct, and Nov) is the right time to trek in Singla Pass. Trekking in the Beginning of September offers to see the alpine high-altitude flowers but sometimes the rain may affect your trek. In winter there are chances of snowfall and Singla Pass may not the crossable so check the forecast before heading to the area.

This itinerary is crafted for short-time trekkers and provided as a guideline however you can extend this trek by adding some of the thrilling side trips eg. Ganesh Himal Base Camp, Kal Kunda, and Timla Pass and traverse Mangin Goth Pass to end this trek at Arughat where classic Manaslu Circuit trek starts.

A scenic public bus ride or private jeep drive to Bhalche village from Kathmandu via Trishuli Bazaar and Betrawati Bazaar - a trade center for the locals, after luch; we further drive to Bhalche; the village of Tamang ethnic group. Overnight in Bhalche in a tea house.

Trek through the rhododendron and bamboo forest to reach Gongka Kharka is pasture for seasonal cows herders place. It is in the mid of the jungle. We take lunch where water would be available. This day we walk about 6 hours. We may have chances to witness Langur, barking dears, wild boars, Himalayan peasant etc.

The trail climbs steep up to Rupche Kharka (3437m): We ascend through the rhododedron and blue pine jungle all the way about 4 hours to reach to Rupche Kharka; a beautiful meadow and camp site . Overnight at Rupchet in tent.

Ascent some 2 hours to Singla Pass (4000m). Now you feel altitude and thin air as we go high. The view becomes brilliant. You can see the chain of Himalaya. The Ganesh Himal range is just in front of you. The panorama view streches from Langtang - Ganesh - Manaslu and Annapurna Ranges. After the enjoying the dramatic Singla Pass; we walk down to Machep Kharka; a beautiful wide meadow; which a shepherd and cow herders place and the view still spectacular from here as well. Overnight in tent camping.

Today; it is 5 to 6 hours downhill trek to Sertung village; the biggest Tamang people settlement. Lunch break will be in a convenient place. Overnight in Sertung in a good home stay.

Trek to Dundure Khola via Awai and Borang villages. It is will be 6-7 hours walk today. Overnight night in basic teahouse.

After local breakfast, catch a local jeep to Dhading best; where we have lunch and after that connecting local Hiace ride to Kathmandu. Transfer to your hotel by guide. Trip concludes with Wilderness Excursion - your local trekking agency in Nepal.

FAQs

The elevation of Singla Pass is at the altitude of 3995 meters from sea level providing an astonishing panoramic view of the Himalayan range from Langtang to Annapurnas. The pass is located in newly proposed trek of Ruby Valley formerly known as “Ganesh Himal Route” section in the GHT (Great Himalaya Trail)

In term of difficulty; this trek is medium hard and the previous outdoor camping trek experience is an asset to undertake this trekking. This trek is not suggested for luxury keens trekkers but best for adventure seekers and wilderness fun.

At the moment; no trekking permit is required for this trekking but taking TIMS Card (Trekkers Information Management System) is mandatory

The best time to do this trekking in Sept, Oct, Nov in autumn and March to May in spring season however this trek is doable throughout the year though monsoon trek is very wet and view is obstructed by monsoon cloud.
