Day 01: Drive to Chechet from KTM by private jeep and trek to Simigaun (2035m)
Depart Kathmandu, and we drive toward Chechet Khola via Charikot; situated atop the hill, Charikot offers scenic views of Gaurishanker Mountain, Melungtse Mountain, and other peaks. We will drive past rustic villages and towns to reach Chechet which is located near the small town of Jagat. We trek 2 hrs uphill to reach our first overnight place, Simigaun.
Day 02: Trekking to Dongang (2790m), 6 hours from Simi Gaun.
To begin our day, the route leads toward North East walking on a gradual uphill slope, we pass through the thick rhododendron and magnolia forests, and the pastures with numerous clearances that are used for summer grazing. In this area, the change from lush Tama Koshi to the mountainside of Rolwaling Valley is very apparent. We will pass through the small settlement area of Kyalche and reach the wooden bridge. Crossing the bridge, we will make it to Dongang where we will stay for the night.
Day 03: Trekking to Beding (3740m), 6 hours walk from Dongang.
We cross the Rolwaling Khola we take a path leading through the jungles on the northern side, the walk heading to a gradual climb & then coming to a clearing passing along little settlements of Nyimare, Ramding, and through the farm fields and reaching Beding for the night stay after a good walk of six hours or more with time to visit Beding village where we can do some chatting with the local folks. It is the principal Sherpa village in the Rolwaling area. Situated in a narrow gorge, it is enlivened somewhat by its well-positioned Gompa, comprising about thirty houses.
Day 04: Trek to Na (4200), 3 to 4 hours walk.
From Beding onwards, we experience thin air as the altitude increases and the cold chill from the surrounding high mountains gets into our bones. Our trek today will be a short walk of three hours or more along the Rolwaling River, as we take it easy on this high-altitude terrain with its impressive vistas of the surrounding high landscapes and the snow-capped peaks. Our walk continues slowly to acclimatize, just before Na the valley opens out into a classic, glaciated U-shape. On reaching our overnight camp at Na, which is a scattered village and a temporary settlement of the villagers of Beding and beyond, it is a summer yersa (grazing pasture) and potatoes are grown hereabouts. There is a roughly built monastery around here. Ahead, up the valley beyond Na, the majestic summit of Chobutse 6,689m rises above the Tsho Rolpa at the confluence of the Ripimo Shar and Trakarding glaciers. We just relax & relish these stunning surroundings.
Day 05: Day excursion to Tso Rolpa (4500m) & Dudh Kunda Lake
It is a day excursion to Tso Rolpa (4500m) & Dudh Kunda Lake, which takes around 5 to 6 hrs for round. This hike is particularly done for an acclimatization purpose. We retrace back to Na by lunch and rest for the remaining of the day.
Day 06: Trek to Yalung Ri base camp (4900m), 3 to 4 hours walk.
