Trip Overview

Lobuche East Peak is located near the Khumbu Glacier and has two main peaks, Lobuche East (6119m) and Lobuche West at 6,145 meters, Lobuche West is 26 meters higher and more technical expedition than the Lobuche East Peak. Although the Lobuche East climb is a bit more challenging than the Island Peak climb, it is equally rewarding. From the peak, you get amazing views of Everest alongside Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Pumori. The 2-day Lobuche East Peak Climbing with Everest Base Camp Trek combines Lobuche East Peak climbing with the classic Everest Trek. The trip will also take you to some of the most popular places in the Everest region like Kala Pathar, which provides an excellent view of Everest along with other high mountains.

When is the best time to climb Lobuche Peak?

The best time to climb Lobuche Peak is in October and November in autumn and March to May for a high success rate. However several other reasons including weather conditions in the area, your preferences and abilities, and the availability of support services such as guides can play a role in making the trip successful. Traditionally, the climbing season for Lobuche Peak Climbing starts in September, continues until the first week of December, and lasts from March to May. These months offer the best combination of good weather and stable conditions on the mountain. Climbing in summer has less chance of summit. There are crevasses and deep cracks these months because of snow melt and climate change and the global warming impact is serious. And running an expedition in summer and winter even will cost high.

How much does it cost to climb Lobuche Peak?

In general; the cost depends on several factors such as trip mode, number of people in the group, and climbing season differ in the expedition price. The best is; to combine this small expedition with the Everest Base Camp Trek, or even you can combine it with the Everest Three Passes Trek if your time allows. Hiking to Kala Patthar and Base Camp keeps you adapted to altitude and you are acclimatized which helps you tackle thin air for climbing Lobuche Peak.

We get up early today at around 2 AM and have our breakfast before beginning our climb. We must reach the summit before noon because in the afternoon the strong winds in the highlands might become a barrier to a successful summit. We will most likely be walking on rock surfaces up to around 5700m after which we climb on ice. We will use both fixed rope and main rope as per our leader’s instruction. The climbing surface as well as the length of the rope depends on the time of the season and the crevasses. Lobuche East offers more panoramic views of the mountains than any other trekking peak. From the summit, you get to enjoy magnificent views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Cholatse, Pumori, and many more. We spend some time at the summit celebrating and taking pictures, then we get back to the High Camp and then trek back to Lobuche or Dukla.
