Enjoy a breathtaking flight into the Kathmandu Valley, offering stunning views of the Himalayas and the terraced landscape below. Upon landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, you’ll be warmly greeted by one of our representatives, who will escort you to your hotel.
Depending on your arrival time, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the vibrant city. Must-visit spots include Kathmandu’s Durbar Square, where narrow alleyways are lined with small shops, ancient temples, and local eateries. Don’t miss the chance to visit Swayambhunath Temple, a perfect spot to witness the sunset casting golden hues over the valley and the Himalayas to the north.
For your first meal, head to Thamel, the bustling tourist hub, where you’ll find a wide range of restaurants serving both Western and traditional Nepali cuisine. If time permits, make your way to Asan Tole, the city’s liveliest bazaar, brimming with colorful spice stalls, fresh produce, and vibrant fish markets—ideal for capturing memorable photos. Brush up on a few basic Nepali phrases and engage with the warm and welcoming locals for an authentic experience!
After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, you'll be greeted by an English-speaking guide for a full-day exploration of the Kathmandu Valley. This private tour is tailored just for you and includes visits to three sacred sites: Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, and Patan Durbar Square. Designed to make the most of your time in Kathmandu without feeling rushed, the tour allows you to spend as much time as you like at each location—though most visitors typically spend about an hour per site. A stop at one of our recommended local restaurants is included for lunch.
Swayambhunath Stupa
Perched on a picturesque hill a few miles from the city center, Swayambhunath offers stunning views of the Kathmandu Valley and is a symbol of religious harmony between Nepalese Buddhists and Hindus. This ancient stupa, a dome-shaped Buddhist monument, is one of the region's most historic shrines. The site features prayer wheels, intricate monastery paintings, and the largest Buddha statue in Nepal.
Pashupatinath Temple Complex
Situated along the sacred Bagmati River, Pashupatinath is Nepal's most revered Hindu pilgrimage site, with a history of worship spanning over 1,500 years. As you explore the complex, you'll encounter a sixth-century Buddha statue, an eighth-century statue of Brahma (the Creator), and intricately carved temples dedicated to various deities. The temple gates, guarded by skeletal images, add to the site's mystical atmosphere.
Patan Durbar Square
This architectural marvel is home to 14th-century statues, ancient scriptures, and stunning temples. Highlights include the Krishna Mandir, Bhimsen Temple, Mahaboudha Temple (known for its terracotta design), and Oku Bahal. The square is a testament to Nepal's rich cultural and religious heritage.
In the late afternoon, you'll return to your hotel in Kathmandu, where you'll meet your trekking guide. They will brief you on the details of tomorrow's adventure, ensuring you're well-prepared for the next leg of your journey.
You will enjoy a one-hour early morning flight to visit Mt. Everest and Nepal's other majestic peaks before breakfast. Flying east along the Himalayan range to Mt. Everest and back is a breathtaking experience. After being picked up from your hotel, you will be driven to the domestic airport and returned in time for breakfast.
Famous peaks including Shisha Pangma (8,013 m), Cho-Oyu (8,201 m), Nuptse (7,855 m), and finally Everest (8,848 m), also known as Sagarmatha by Nepalese and Chomolungma by Tibetans, can be seen while flying out the left side of the aircraft.
You'll have some free time to explore independently in the morning after breakfast. We may suggest various paths for a quick stroll, or you can just unwind at the hotel.
You might choose to go on a guided tour of some of the well-known cultural sites in the Kathmandu Valley in the afternoon (in a private jeep). For suggestions of potential destinations, go to the articles that are linked.
It is a farewell time. Enjoy a city walk, souvenir shopping, and/or breakfast at a café as you spend your final days in Kathmandu. After picking you up at your hotel, a representative will take you to the airport so you may catch your trip back home. Arriving at the airport at least two hours before departure is a good idea.
