Paldor Peak Climbing Description
The Paldor Peak Climbing expedition can be started from three different places. Our standard itinerary begins from Balche followed by a jeep/bus ride from Kathmandu. Paldor Peak lies at the southeast end of the Ganesh Himal range at the junction of the Tiru and Karpu Dandas (ridges) at the head of Melung Khola, a tributary of Trisuli River. As the peak is below 6,000m, it provides a satisfying and non-difficult climb. The main route across the glacier is crevassed and takes some finding. On reaching the col there are two options. Either climb the straightforward ridge using ropes or continue around to the crevassed back for a simpler, 45-degree, ridge. In good conditions making a traverse of the mountain is possible. From the summit, there are excellent views of all the Ganesh Himal peaks, Langtang Lirung (7,227 m) and Manaslu (8,156 m), as well as the mountains of Tibet including Shishapangma (8,013 m).
This peak can be climbed from the northeast, southeast, West, and southwest West Ridge. It was first climbed by Bill Tilman, Peter Lloyd, Tenzing Sherpa, and Da Namgyal during the monsoon of 1949 by the North-East Ridge. Trekking to Paldor is one of the best and famous trekking routes in the Ganesh Himal region. The route lies in the Ganesh Himal region, and it links the Langtang and Manaslu sections of the Great Himalaya Trail. In this region, you get to view stunning tranquil lakes, beautiful waterfalls, great Himalayan landscapes, and lush green farming terraces. You also get an insight into the lifestyle and culture of the local Tamang and Gurung majorities. The trek begins from Gyangsang and ends at Syabrubesi, or you can start it from Syabrubesi and end the trekking in Darkha Phedi. Paldor Peak Trekking lies in a remote location; it provides an interesting trekking trail for its climbers. This trek can be extended with Tamang Heritage, Classic Langtang Valley Trek, or reversing the trek via Singla Pass and ending the trek at Betrawati on the bank of the Trisuli River.
