Yes, it has been more than a years that Nepal resumed trekking and climbing with all tour activities as the government decided to permit foreigners to visit the country since 17 Oct 2020 but the second wave of Covid-19 forced the country to implement lockdown again in April 2021 and travel had been banned again. At present; Nepal has very least covid-19 cases and more than 60 percent of population is vaccinated and all the people involving in tourism related jobs and workers received vaccine against covid. Form October 1st 2021; the Department of Immigration resumed “On arrival tourist visa” for fully vaccinated travelers. The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation said international travelers who are fully vaccinated will not have to show a negative RT-PCR test report. So PCR test is required only for unvaccinated travelers and mandatory quarantine is removed. 

Has Nepal resumed the trekking & mountaineering? 

The cabinet meetings made a decision to open for the tourism industry such as tours, trekking and mountaineering earlier. Now the government has lifted the travel ban and issued an easy travel safety protocol that is being implemented, which has been awaited by trekking enthusiasts and travel agencies worldwide who love Nepal and its Himalaya.

  • The proof of full vaccination against COVID-19. 
  • RTR-PCR test negative report if you are not fully vaccinated.  
  • Travel insurance.

What about domestic flights and long-distance transportation?

Long-route public transportation services and domestic flights are already reopened in Nepal. Travelers taking domestic flights and riding local buses will have to follow the safety guidelines by wearing masks, sanitizing hands, and maintaining social distance.
